What we do

Two sides of
the same trade.

Residential and commercial electrical work demand different scheduling, different code sections and different documentation. We are set up for both, and we do not pretend they are the same job.

About APEX Electric

A local shop
that answers the phone.

APEX Electric works out of O'Fallon, which puts most of St. Charles County inside a twenty-minute drive. That is the whole reason we can offer same-day response on urgent calls and mean it — we are not routing a truck out from the far side of the metro.

We run residential and commercial work as two distinct disciplines, because they are. A home service call needs an arrival window we actually keep and an explanation you can follow. A commercial build-out needs a schedule tied to your occupancy date and the discipline to work overnight so you do not lose trading days. Doing both well means not pretending they are the same job.

What does carry across is the standard: permitted and inspected work, fixed prices agreed before the work starts, diagnosis before parts, and a site left clean. Simple commitments, held to consistently.

Why APEX

How we
actually work.

Electrical contracting has a reputation problem, and it is mostly earned. Here is the standard we hold ourselves to — judge us against it.

Fixed quotes, not hourly guesses

You get a price for the job before we start it. If we find something behind the wall that changes the scope, we stop and tell you what it means before we carry on — we do not discover it on the invoice.

Permitted and inspected

Permits get pulled and we meet the inspector ourselves. Unpermitted work surfaces at resale and at insurance renewal, and it costs far more to prove after the fact than to do properly once.

Diagnosis before parts

A tripping breaker is a symptom. We find the cause with meters and thermal imaging rather than swapping components until the symptom goes away, because the second approach just removes the warning.

Scheduled around your operation

Commercial work happens after hours by default so you do not lose a trading day. Residential work gets an arrival window we actually keep, and a call if anything changes.

Explained in plain language

You get told what was wrong, what we did and what we would keep an eye on — without the trade jargon and without being talked into work the house does not need.

Safety is not a slogan

Lockout/tagout, arc-flash PPE and proper testing on every job, including the small ones. The corners that get cut on a quick call are the ones that hurt people.

The process

No mystery,
start to finish.

Most complaints about electricians come down to not knowing what happens next or what it will cost. This is the whole sequence.

  1. 01

    Call or send the details

Tell us what is happening and where. For most residential work a short conversation and a couple of photos are enough for us to know what we are walking into.

  2. 02

    On-site assessment

We look at the actual conditions — the panel, the service size, the run — and where it matters we perform a load calculation rather than estimating from the outside.

  3. 03

    A fixed written quote

One price for the defined scope, with the options laid out where there is more than one legitimate way to solve it. No pressure to decide on the spot.

  4. 04

    Permit and schedule

The permit gets pulled and we book a window that works around your household or your trading hours, including evenings and weekends.

  5. 05

    The work, done clean

Drop cloths down, circuits labeled, debris taken with us. You get told what changed and shown anything that is worth understanding about your system.

  6. 06

    Inspection and sign-off

We meet the inspector, close out the permit and hand over the documentation. Nothing gets covered up until it has passed.

Safety

Stop and call.
Do not wait.

Some electrical faults are an inconvenience. These four are not. If you see any of them, turn the circuit off at the panel if you can do so safely, and call us — we keep after-hours availability specifically for this.

A burning or fishy smell

Overheating insulation. Shut the circuit off at the panel and call — this is the condition that precedes a fire.

Sparks, arcing or scorch marks

A visible arc means a loose or failing connection carrying load. It will not settle down on its own.

A warm outlet, switch or panel

Devices should be at room temperature. Heat you can feel through a cover plate means a bad connection behind it.

Water anywhere near electrical

A flooded basement with a live panel, or a leak above a fixture. Do not touch it — kill the power remotely if you safely can.
